RESTYLANE ® - PERLANE® - JUVÉDERM™ - EVOLENCE®

RESTYLANE ®

The answer to lasting wrinkle correction is Restylane.

If you're considering a wrinkle correction treatment, we invite you to learn important facts about Restylane. It's quick and easy. The recovery time is minimal and the results are immediate and lasting.

What is Restylane ®?
Restylane ® is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds.

Restylane is a cosmetic dermal filler made of hyaluronic acid , a natural substance that already exists in the human body. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is a crystal-clear gel called NASHAT or Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid. NASHA is completely biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid.

Restylane maintains its shape using the body's own moisture. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is hydrophilic or "water loving." As hyaluronic acid gradually degrades, each molecule binds to more water and over time, the same volume can be maintained with less hyaluronic acid. This ability of hyaluronic acid to bind to water is what helps provide lasting results.

Unlike rooster-derived hyaluronic acids and bovine collagen products, Restylane is free from animal proteins. This limits any risk of animal-based disease transmissions or development of allergic reactions to animal proteins.*

After your treatment, you might have some redness or swelling. This will normally last less than seven days. Sunbathing and cold outdoor activities should be avoided until any redness or swelling disappear. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or under 18, you shouldn't use Restylane .

Where can Restylane ® be used?
Restylane® has been used in more than 3 million treatments7 in over 70 countries to correct a variety of wrinkles and to enhance the appearance of the lip border. It is currently approved in the U.S. for the treatment of facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds, which are the lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth.

How long does Restylane ® last?
Restylane® is proven to deliver long-lasting results. Studies have shown that Restylane effects generally last for about six months. The unique NASHA™ technology helps maintain the cosmetic effect until the injected material is nearly gone.

Follow-up treatments are typically scheduled at six-month intervals. (Individual results may vary.)

What can I expect?
You should take a few precautions before being treated with Restylane®. One week prior to treatment with Restylane, avoid taking St. John's Wort, high doses of Vitamin E supplements, aspirin, and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, such as ibuprofen. These agents may increase bruising and bleeding at the injection site. Also, if you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that the needle punctures could contribute to another recurrence.

Restylane is injected directly into the skin in tiny amounts by an ultrafine needle, resulting in minimal discomfort. The procedure is simple and convenient and results are practically instantaneous. To optimize your comfort during the short procedure, your physician may decide to numb the treatment area.

Is Restylane ® safe?
Since 1996, over 3 million Restylane® treatments7 have been safely administered by dermatologists and plastic surgeons in more than 70 countries. This innovative treatment is now approved in the U.S. for the treatment of facial wrinkles and folds.

Restylane has a highly favorable safety profile. It's composed of Non-Animal Stabilized hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a substance found naturally in the human body. Restylane is fully biocompatible. There is limited risk of animal-based disease transmission or development of allergic reactions to animal proteins. No allergy testing is required before use.*

Based on clinical studies3, Restylane treatments produce a low occurrence of adverse events. The most commonly reported side effects were temporary redness and swelling at the injection site. These effects typically resolve in less than seven days.

Precautions

  • The safety of Restylane for use during pregnancy, in breastfeeding females or in patients under 18 years has not been established.
  • The safety of Restylane in patients with increased susceptibility to keloid formation and hypertrophic scarring has not been studied. Restylane should not be used in patients with known susceptibility to keloid formation or hypertrophic scarring.
  • The patient should be informed that he or she should minimize exposure of the treated area to excessive sun and UV lamp exposure and extreme cold weather until any initial swelling and redness has resolved.
  • If laser treatment, chemical peeling or any other procedure based on active dermal response is considered after treatment with Restylane there is a possible risk of eliciting an inflammatory reaction at the implant site. This also applies if Restylane is administered before the skin has healed completely after such a procedure.

What does Restylane ®cost?
Restylane® is injected in a customized procedure based on your specific needs, so the cost will vary from patient to patient. In general, the cost of Restylane treatment is comparable to the cost of similar procedures. However, Restylane's lasting properties often prove to be very economical over the long term.

What are the advantages of Restylane ®?
Restylane® is different from Botox®.  Restylane is a natural, cosmetic filler. Botox is a drug that blocks nerve transmission and relaxes the underlying muscles. Many patients have been very pleased after receiving treatment with both products.

Restylane is different than other hyaluronic acid-based products and bovine collagen.  Unlike rooster-derived hyaluronic acids and bovine collagen products, Restylane is free from animal proteins. This limits any risk of animal-based disease transmissions or development of allergic reactions to animal proteins.* Bovine collagen is derived from cowhide and requires an allergy test. Restylane can be administered without pretesting, so no waiting is required.

Perlane®

Perlane® is an injectable cosmetic dermal filler that has been used to soften wrinkles and facial folds of patients across the world. It is also a popular filler for lip augmentation, facial depressions, and facial scarring.
What is Perlane®?

Perlane® is made from non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid (NASHA) gel. This means that Perlane® contains no animal products. Since hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the skin and other tissue, there is no need for a skin test when using Perlane® filler.

The hyaluronic acid in Perlane® supplements the body’s natural supply, which becomes depleted with age. Perlane® is biodegradable so its effects are not permanent. The results of a Perlane® filler treatment tend to last six months to a year. This is much longer than the typical results of collagen injections, which may only last three to six months.

Unlike BOTOX® Cosmetic, Perlane® does not make you numb. Perlane® can be used in conjunction with BOTOX® Cosmetic, which neutralizes the muscles that create wrinkles, but Perlane® simply reduces the visibility of wrinkles and folds.
What Areas of the Face Can Be Treated with Perlane®?

The hyaluronic acid in Perlane® can be used to improve the contour of facial skin and to reduce wrinkles, folds, scars, and other facial skin depressions.

Common uses for Perlane® filler include:

* Wrinkle correction
* Diminishing worry lines, smile lines, crow’s feet, marionette lines at corners of the mouth, and smoker’s lines
* Lip enhancement
* Reducing the severity of nasolabial folds
* Chin augmentation
* Filling cheek depressions
* Redefining lip border
* Softening acne scars

Other, less common, uses for Perlane® filler include:

* Filling hollows under the eyes
* Creating a temporary eyebrow lift
* Correcting facial depressions caused by fat loss
* Softening the appearance of jowls

Restylane® vs. Perlane® Filler

Perlane® is primarily the same product as Restylane®, but Perlane® filler contains a larger concentration of hyaluronic acid. Because of this higher concentration of hyaluronic acid, Perlane® is usually used for larger folds, while Restylane® is better suited for smaller wrinkles or to maintain the results of a previous Perlane® injection.

Because of the differing levels of hyaluronic acid, Restylane® is less expensive than Perlane® filler.

JUVÉDERM™

Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers like Juvéderm™ injectable gel offer a safe and effective nonsurgical option for smoothing facial wrinkles and folds. In fact, they are the fastest growing nonsurgical aesthetic procedure in the United States according to the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. But all dermal fillers are not the same!

If you're interested in being treated with this nonsurgical physician-administered treatment option, you should know the advantages of choosing Juvéderm™ injectable gel:

  • A "next-generation" filler: JUVÉDERM™ is a “next-generation” non-animal dermal filler that is made from hyaluronic acid—a naturally occurring substance that plays a vital role in hydrating your skin and replenishing its natural volume. No allergy skin tests are needed prior to receiving treatment.
  • Advanced technology for long-lasting results: JUVÉDERM™ injectable gel employs its unique manufacturing process to provide the highest concentration of cross-linked hyaluronic acid of any currently available hyaluronic acid dermal filler for long-lasting results. This advanced manufacturing process also creates a smooth consistency gel that flows consistently and easily into the skin and provides a smooth, natural look and feel. Juvéderm™ is the only filler available with this smooth consistency gel formulation—other existing hyaluronic acid fillers are made of granular consistency gels.*
  • Dry test, extrusion of a small amount (≈.025 mL) of JUVÉDERM™ and RESTYLANE onto a glass surface at 9x magnification.
  • Proven safety and effectiveness: Juvéderm™ is the first FDA-approved hyaluronic acid dermal filler that has demonstrated its safety and effectiveness in persons of color.
  • Quick and easy procedure: Juvéderm™ injectable gel is a nonsurgical physician-administered treatment that requires no allergy skin test and minimal recovery or downtime.
  • Personalized treatment: Juvéderm™ injectable gel is available in two formulations— Juvéderm™ Ultra for versatility in contouring and volumizing facial wrinkles and folds, and Juvéderm™ Ultra Plus, a more robust formulation for volumizing and correcting deeper folds and wrinkles. This allows your healthcare professional to tailor treatment to meet your unique needs.

Because Juvéderm™ injectable gel is a simple, nonsurgical treatment, there is minimal recovery or downtime. So you can make an appointment to stop by your healthcare professional's office for treatment on the way home from work or the gym, or even while the kids are at soccer practice—and get right back to your life. Here's what to expect when you visit your healthcare professional's office for treatment. (Please note that although this experience is typical, the routine at your healthcare professional's office may be different).

Before you go: Some doctors recommend that you avoid any medications that can prolong bleeding, such as aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDS), for at least a week prior to treatment in order to reduce the risk of bruising and bleeding at the injection site. Ask your healthcare professional what he or she recommends.

When you arrive: If this is your first visit, your healthcare professional will ask about your medical history, including any allergies you may have or medications you may take, and will tell you more about wrinkle treatment with Juvéderm™. Juvéderm™ injectable gel does not require an allergy test.

Determining your treatment needs: Your healthcare professional will examine the soft tissue of your face to assess the depth of wrinkles and folds to determine your treatment. Juvéderm™ injectable gel is available in two formulations—Juvéderm™ Ultra for versatility in contouring and volumizing facial wrinkles and folds, and Juvéderm™ Ultra Plus, a robust formulation for volumizing and correcting deeper folds and wrinkles. This allows your healthcare professional to better tailor treatment to your unique needs. Your healthcare professional may even take pretreatment photographs so you can see the difference after treatment!

Before the procedure: Although anesthesia is not required, your healthcare professional may use topical or injectable anesthesia to numb the treatment area first.

The procedure: Your healthcare professional will ease the Juvéderm™ injectable gel under your skin to augment, or fill, wrinkles and folds. Following the injection, your healthcare professional may gently massage the treated areas. The procedure is quick and easy. The injection itself usually takes only about 15 minutes.

After the procedure: With Juvéderm™, there is minimal recovery or downtime.

For the first 24 hours following treatment, you should avoid strenuous exercise, excessive sun or heat exposure, and consumption of alcoholic beverages in order to help minimize the risks of temporary redness, swelling, and/or itching at the treatment sites. After the treatment, some temporary injection-related reactions may occur, including redness, pain, firmness, swelling, and bumps. Studies have shown that these are usually mild to moderate in nature and clear up on their own in 7 days or less. If you experience swelling at the injection site, you can apply an ice pack for a brief period. Your healthcare professional will tell you when makeup may be applied after your treatment.

Seeing results: You should see an immediate improvement in the treatment areas. Most patients need one treatment to achieve optimal wrinkle smoothing, and the results last up to 6 months or more. However, results may vary and correction is temporary. Supplemental “touch up” treatments may be required to achieve and maintain optimal results.

Evolence®

What is Evolence?
EVOLENCE® dermal filler represents a breakthrough in treating the effects of aging by replacing the collagen you've lost with collagen that lasts. A truly novel dermal filler, EVOLENCE® can immediately improve and refresh your appearance by smoothing out and softening unwanted wrinkles and folds, and restoring structure and facial contour in volume-depleted areas. The visible, natural-looking results are achieved immediately, with minimal-to-no downtime, so you can get right back to your daily activities. These immediate results last for at least 6 months, so you can avoid the costly repeat treatments often associated with other fillers.
EVOLENCE® is injected by a trained physician or aesthetic professional, and your desired results may be achieved in just 1 visit. Only your physician or aesthetic professional can determine the best treatment approach for achieving your desired results.

Why is collagen so important for achieving a refreshed youthful appearance?
Collagen is nature's most fundamental and abundant building block. In fact, collagen makes up 70% to 80% of the skin's dermis, providing structure, strength, and support. Collagen depletes naturally over time as we age, leading to a tired or aged appearance. This happens through the formation of new wrinkles and folds, and changes in facial contour and structure. The natural pace of collagen loss can be accelerated by such factors as sun exposure, genetics, hormonal changes, and smoking. By replacing lost collagen with an advanced collagen compound, EVOLENCE® dermal filler can help enhance and maintain the structure, volume, and naturally younger-looking appearance of your skin.

What makes Evolence® different?
EVOLENCE® dermal filler is made of natural collagen, one of the most prevalent materials in your body. The advanced collagen in EVOLENCE® has been naturally cross-linked, so it mimics the 3-dimensional structure of your skin's own collagen. This allows it to integrate beautifully and support your skin's own existing collagen network by adding structure, strength, and volume for a natural look and feel that last.

The unique collagen of EVOLENCE®:

  • Achieves immediate, natural-looking results, so you can walk out of your aesthetic professional's office looking beautifully refreshed
  • Causes minimal-to-no swelling or bruising, so you can get right back to daily activities
  • Last for at least 6 months so it is convenient and reduces costly repeat visits
  • Does not require a skin pre-test, so you can get results in 1 visit
  • Although new to the US, EVOLENCE® has been used extensively in Canada, Europe, and Israel for several years.

Where is Evolence® used?
EVOLENCE® is recommended for the correction of moderate-to-deep facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds, the ones that appear from your nose to the corners of your mouth ("smile lines").

Is Evolence® right for me?
Your physician or aesthetic professional will help you determine the best treatment approach for achieving your desired results. Together, you may decide EVOLENCE® dermal filler is right for you if you are seeking a refreshed and naturally younger-looking you. The visible results are immediate
