Dr. Chu graduated from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee and received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee. He completed an internship and residency in internal medicine, a residency in dermatology at the University of Tennessee and a fellowship in cosmetic surgery through the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery.

Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Dermatology, Dr. Chu is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, American Society of Liposuction Surgery, and the American and International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery. 

Dr. Chu has been published in several medical publications and is active in clinical research. He has authored a chapter in a Dermatologic Cosmetic Surgery textbook. Additionally, Dr. Chu volunteers for the SCORES program and provides Pro-Bono Services to survivors of domestic violence.

Most recently, Dr. Chu was presented the 2010 Best Doctors® award, a prestigious award identifying the most respected doctors in each specialty of medicine.
